Summer serves up a big slice of fun in Boston.

Take in the best of jazz at Boston Maritime Park, Saturday, Aug. 26. The 2017 Boston Jazz Fest returns for a sixth year in a row, bringing a group of award-winning jazz performers to the Boston waterfront. Cost? None.

3. City Bike Tour

Are you new to the area or like the thought of learning new tidbits about your favorite city? Then you should take guided bike tour of Boston. Ride through vibrant neighborhoods like the North End, the Fenway, Beacon Hill, Copley Square, and more. You can even choose to ride at night, focus entirely on the Emerald Necklace – a masterpiece in landscaping― or take a tour that includes a visit to Fenway Park.

4. World-Class Concerts

Coldplay, Billy Joel, and Justin Bieber. Those are just some of the world-class touring acts that are scheduled to rock Boston in August. 5. Whale Watching Cruises

Spend the day with some of the largest mammals on Earth. The World Wildlife Fund ranks Massachusetts as one of the top 10 whale watching spots in the world. Spring and summer present the optimal time to catch species like the humpback and finback whales, each weighing roughly 40 tons. Cruises depart from Central Wharf on the Downtown Boston Waterfront.

6. Boston Harbor Islands

8. Shakespeare in the Park

Few things go together as well as Shakespeare and a starry night. Bring a blanket or a folding chair and you’re all set to enjoy Romeo & Juliet, staged by the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, near the Parkman Bandstand on Boston Common. Last performance of the season: Aug. 6.

9. North End Italian Feasts and Festivals

The North End turns into a giant street party when the North End Italian Feasts and Festivals take over the neighborhood. Four of the biggest events of the summer-long festival happens in August and have a few things in common: food, music, parades, strolling singers, religious ceremonies, and celebrations galore.

10. Red Sox Game
